Our Mission
Chem4Change is a youth-led nonprofit initiative that empowers children to use chemistry to solve real-world health and environmental challenges in their communities. Through hands-on experiments and story-based learning, Chem4Change transforms chemistry from an abstract school subject into a practical tool for confidence, curiosity, and positive change.
Chem4Change teaches chemistry not as a traditional school subject, but as a life skill. Through story-based lessons and community problem-solving experiments, students learn how chemistry can improve health, protect the environment, and empower them to become leaders in their own communities.
Empowering Communities Through Chemistry
Students use hands-on chemistry to solve real health and safety challenges in their own communities, such as testing drinking water, creating natural disinfectants and hygiene products, studying air quality and pollution, and exploring compost and soil chemistry.
Chemistry lessons begin with a story about a young scientist from a relatable background, helping students see themselves as scientists before applying concepts through hands-on experiments. This approach builds identity, engagement, and confidence in science.
Students explore environmental chemistry by transforming waste into useful products and learning how science can protect and improve their environment such as making biodegradable plastics, creating natural dyes and pigments, and building solar ovens.
